News of Note—FDA clears first 7-tesla MRI scanner; Medtronic, Mercy ink data-sharing deal

        > The FDA cleared Siemens' Magnetom Terra MRI scanner, the first 7-tesla MRI machine cleared for diagnostic imaging. The only other cleared MRI scanners have magnetic field strengths of 1.5 and 3 tesla. A higher magnetic field strength means better image quality, said Robert Ochs, director of the Division of Radiological Health in the FDAs Center for Devices and Radiological Health, in a statement.         > Medtronic and Mercy have inked a data-sharing partnership that will initially focus on collecting deidentified data from about 80,000 heart failure patients. The pair aims to explore factors that determine how a patient responds to cardiac resynchronization therapy. Release

        > Clarify Medical and DermatologistOnCall joined forces to offer light therapy for patients at home, at work or while traveling. Physicians will be able to monitor and modify treatment remotely. Release
